Mouse hair follicle organoids are derived from the co-culture system of epidermal cells and dermal cells of the back skin of newborn mice.The hair follicle is an important accessory organ of the skin and has the ability to regenerate periodically (anagen in the growth stage, catagen in the degeneration stage, telogen in the telogen stage).The bulge area of the hair follicle contains pluripotent stem cells (HFSCs), which express markers such as CD34, K15, and SOX9, which are the key cell groups for hair follicle regeneration.Hair follicle organoids can be used to study hair follicle development, cycle regulation, hair loss diseases (such as androgenic alopecia), and hair regenerative medicine.The key to the culture of hair follicle organoids in mice lies in the epidermal-dermal interaction and the 3D self-organizing process.The hair follicle structure is complex, including multiple functional areas such as the outer root sheath (ORS), the inner root sheath (IRS), the hair shaft, and the dermal papilla (DP). The culture system needs to support the self-assembly of these structures.
